Moments from a Photo Shoot

Thonet chairs on display - the cl

Today I was out of the office and being an interior stylist on a photo shoot. We were located at the Thonet showroom in Wellington - a great space to work with and surrounded by great furniture to admire in between photo takes. Nice.

The stunning Artek 901 Trolley designed by Alvar Aalto. One day...

An awesome photo shoot perk - taking home the gorgeous flowers.

Another perk - finding awesome objects while you source products. This time it was a Cardinal Bird Whistle - you know you want one.

Flowers from the Quintessential Magazine

Have you come across the Quintessential magazine yet? It is a online magazine curated by Sydney based Leanne Carter-Taylor and it is a visual feast!
The latest edition is all things flowers to celebrate the arrival of Spring and my favourite is 'The Portrait of a Flower' (as seen above and below). These scenes were styled by John Mangila and the photographs were taken by Sharyn Cairns - you will need to subscribe to the magazine (it's free!) to get access to these stunning shots and more.
Carter-Taylor is the creative mind and retailer behind Australia stores duckeggBLUE, a woman's clothing store; Quinessential duckegg BLUE, an antique and industrial furniture store as well as The Man Next Door, a men's clothing store. They all look amazing - on the list for when I eventually make my way to Sydney. And to top it off, she also has an amazing home - check it out on The Design Files.

Dahlia Galore in San Francisco

Have you seen anything as amazing as this? This is the Dahlia Dell at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco - and the dahlia flowers were in full bloom early this October. I did not know that the Dahlia is the official city flower for SF and when they're planted together like this, they look stunning. Read more about them here.

Walls of Flowers for Dior

Stunning walls of flowers for Raf Simons' couture debut in Paris.

Fashion designer Raf Simons with Diane Kruger for Vogue magazine.

"There were peonies, goldenrod, dahlias, carnations, delphiniums, orchids and all kinds of roses. Flowers splayed from floor to ceiling."
This is quite sensational - in early July, Dior created this visual feast for Raf Simons' couture debut. Five salons in Paris become the backdrop of colour as a million flowers were cut and arranged to create these stunning spaces. Imagine the fragrance!

Brunch in Brooklyn

Great rustic serving table

Strong and graphic tile lines with black grout.

This is a great waterfront loft in Brooklyn, New York where the class-cooking-dining experiences of Sunday Suppers happens. The spaces are light and simple with touches of strong rustic furniture and you couldn't miss the gorgeous classic kitchen. On this particular occasion,  a group of designers, writers, editors, photographers and other talented ladies gathered together to celebrate Mothers Day. The stylish surroundings is lovely and this is a great way to be with people and enjoy really good food.

A Flowering Garden

I'm certainly not ready to leave behind the summer that didn't really arrive! However Autumn is here to stay and made its presence this morning with a chill to the air.
So to see the end of Summer, here is a flowering garden and home from landscape designer, Judy Tomkins - I love the appearance of the flowers both outside in the garden and inside the home. Happy Friday all and have a lovely weekend.

Here are some lovely simple Christmas flowers inspiration from Ikea's Livet Hemma (Life At Home). It is less than two weeks until Christmas Eve and Livet Hemma has some great inspirations for an enjoyable Christmas - go on and have a look here (make sure to translate the pages to english so you can read their advice).

Flowers with a Touch of 'Minty'.

I was visiting Designmade this morning when this new flower arrangement arrived. While I think the orchids are gorgeous, I especially liked the vintage 'Minties' can that acted as the vase.
