Summer Yellow at Country Road

The latest Country Road Australia catalogue is out now and I'm loving the yellow in their homeware range - "give warmth to neutrals with highlight pops of citrus yellow..."

A Touch of Yellow

It is a very miserable cold and rainy day in Wellington - a very brisk start to our Autumn. So when I saw this classy kitchen with the bright yellow pendant lights, I perked up as there is nothing like a pop of yellow for some zing. This kitchen was renovated by stylist Raina Kattelson in New York State and makes an appearance in the latest Rue magazine. Read it here.

Bright, Fun and Stripes

I noticed this great living room from Design Sponge a couple of days ago - pretty much anything that has stripes, like these cushions and rug, will always catch my eye! Then I was taken by the wayside to something else.
Today I got an email from my lovely friend, Adriana, based in Washington DC complimenting the same photo as a 'fun and bright' space. I agree! See the rest of the Vancouver home owned by graphic designer, Nerissa here.
Also check out Nerissa's cool online store called The New Domestic, which has these super cool bags called 'Bon Journey' - how cool is the yellow one?

Fabulous New Chair from ES Design

Here is a fabulous new chair that my client chose and ordered from the amazing archives by ES Design (they have a great selection of vintage chairs to choose from, which they can restore and re-upholstered). After we chose a fabric that was no longer available (ah yes, that sometimes happens!), my client decided on this fantastically graphic yellow fabric. The chair has come up beautifully and if you go to the ES Design blog here, you can see the transformation from before to after.

A Shot of Yellow

Gate fabric in Citrine from Dwell Studio
Yellow bed head from Schoolhouse Electric Co, USA
What has been catching my eye of late is a good shot of yellow. The 'Gate' fabric by Dwell Studio was ordered for a client to re-upholster a vintage chair, while the yellow bed head (spotted on Remodelista) is from a cool USA based brand called Schoolhouse Electric Co.

Yellow and White Striped Rug? Yes Please.

I think this Draper Stripe Citrine Rug from Dwell Studio would look pretty damn good at my place. Just so refreshing. Yellow always look amazing with grey and white which my house has a lot of. Oh, to dream...

Yellow TWD Stool by Tim Webber

This sunny yellow TWD stool by Tim Webber Design caught my eye the other day. The colour is just fantastic - it would bring any room to life. This elegant stool made of solid ash would be so handy not only as seating but also as a side table for a sofa or bed. It comes in two heights (470mm and 650mm) to suit whatever use you have in mind and it is being released this month so keep an eye out for it.

Inspiration - Yellow Kitchen

I found this photograph of a yellow kitchen from Living Etc and stored it away for safe keeping. You never know when you need to convince a client that a yellow kitchen would look rather cool...

Summer is here in New Zealand - not that we would know it from the rain and cold that we're having right now!
Yellow is such a happy Summer colour - so until the sun starts shining again, here's a collection of interiors with touches of Summer yellow that keeps me going.
